Press Release Summary: The shadowy origins of the man who became known as Jesus
Christ

Press Release Body: Based on his accredited expertise in the original languages,
Michael Calum Jacques - consulting only the earliest sources available -
demonstrates that the man who much later became known as the 'Son of God', along
with his band of insurgents, formed part of a 1st Century extremist movement
(recorded by first century Jewish sources) known only as the Fourth Philosophy.

Mary of Magdala, Judas Iscariot and other associates of Jesus are vigorously
reappraised in the light of new evidence from the original, historical, sources.
Later theological, ecclesiastical and partisan additions are detected, rooted out
and, ultimately rejected by the author.

About the Author:

Michael Calum Jacques, M.Th, M.C.D., M.P.A.S. was educated at Ashby School,
Moorlands College and St Andrews and Oxford Universities. He was awarded the
William Watson and William Darling Guthrie Prizes for excellence in Biblical Greek
and Classical Hebrew and is currently commencing a new and "accessible" translation
of the work of the 1st Century Jewish Historian, Flavius Josephus.

About the Book:

1st Century Radical presents the case that Yeshua-bar-Yosef was part of a larger,
reactionary, anti-Roman terrorist movement named and described by Josephus only as
the Fourth Philosophy. Thus, the main tenets of 1st Century Radical are:

1. The original 'Jesus', Yeshua-bar-Yosef, was a radicalised Jewish fundamentalist
originally from Galilee. He was executed by the Romans as a terrorist, not by the
Jewish authorities or populace.

2. A number of Yeshua-bar-Yosef's recruits and associates were also radical
extremists: Simon the Zealot, James and John the 'Sons of Aggression or Agitation'
and Yehudah-the-Daggerman (Judas Iscariot).

3. Mary of Magdala was a wealthy, older woman whom Yeshua had healed; she would not
have been able to bear children (putting to rest any idea of her later bearing
Jesus' offspring).

4. The Christian Church (of which the author considers himself to be a member) needs
to update its theology of the historical Yeshua-bar-Yosef and his relationship to
the Jesus of Faith; they are currently incompatible.
